Frenchpod, Italianpod, and Spanishpod all are announcing staff departures. It appears that there is some serious house-cleaning going on at Praxis. What's up? Obviously all of these departures are no coincidence. Praxis has NOT been giving us a full account of what is happening. First the lesson cutbacks, and then all of our favorite staff are departing.

I can sympathize with JP. Although living in Lyon is pretty cool, I do miss my home in Seattle quite a bit too.
I miss Thai food, Mexican food, snowboarding in the snowiest mountains on earth, not needing air conditioning in the summer, free refills, seahawks games, the folk-life festival, gigantic evergreen trees, dim sum and redhook beers.
Good luck with your new thing JP. Bonne chance & buena suerte.

Thanks so much, empty! Mexican food, dim sum, redhook.... I can't wait to go back! :)
I also want to say that whoever gets to be Amo's next cohost is a lucky person! Amaury is a kick in the pants! ;)

That's sad news to hear your leaving us JP. Thanks for all the work you've put into Frenchpod, we'll miss you.
I hope Frenchpod keeps up the Frenchpod Cafe show despite the unfortunate 1 lesson per week (temporary!) schedule.
Without this Frenchpod cafe show the site feels a bit dead.

It's a shame that the FrenchPod decison makers have not reconsidered the new schedule (although I didn't really expect it.) It is clear that we are not getting the full story here.
Maybe the recycling of old lessons will suit new members, but what about all the loyal FrenchPod users who have been here almost since the beginning? Many of us will have already worked though most of the lessons. So what is left for us? One new lesson a week? Sorry, but I don't see many people paying a subscription fee for such a small amount of new content. It seems like a bad business move to me.
Anyway, I would like to say thank you to the team for being great hosts and I wish JP all the best!

Oh, no! JP is leaving us!! We're gonna miss you! Good luck in whatever you do next.I'll follow you on facebook ^^
Actually, that means there's no one left from all the people I met when I visited Fpod a year ago...kind of sad...

JP is leaving us too! Arg, what's in Seattle, all there is, is that fair, and the Space needle. (joking) I love the West coast, born and raised in Oregon.
I dont see why you want to see rain everyday, for 2 weeks straight at a time!
I'll definetly be missing you JP even though you haven't got to know me...

Oh no, not you too JP!! I can't count how often the Amaury/JP banter has caused me to laugh hysterically! I expect Praxis to be looking for a new co-host for a long time because you'll be hard to replace...sniff sniff :'( Good luck in all your new adventures JP!
Can anyone at Praxis give us an idea of when the lessons might go back up to 3 per week? My premium subscription expired last month & I'd love to renew, but can't justify paying for only 4 new lessons per month.

I have really not heard any true answer to any concerns voiced in the e-mails posted.
I can only assume that things are tough financially & that is why the cuts were made.
It seems now that the site is good for beginners but those of us who want to progress are now at a stalemate.
I hope you will reconsider this decision. Hopefully,.... when the economy picks up. Until then, Au revoir.

The quality of this service has really deteriorated over the past few months. Updates are more sparse and the new dialogues are nowhere near as well-acted, educational and humorous as they once used to be.
Frenchpod has been an invaluable tool for me to learn French and I appreciate your hard work and efforts, but due to the above mentioned problems, I am no longer a paying customer.
Adieu !

Je suis triste! I really like JP! I like him as a host in Spanishpod and in Frenchpod. I feel like he is a big part of my life as a language enthusiast (you too, Amaury and Liliana). I love the way you present the lessons. Where can I keep in touch with you people?

Bonne chance JP! Any intermediate lessons coming up??? I'm listening to old newbie lessons that I skipped earlier on, but even though I'm far from fluent, they're not much of a challenge.

June 10, 2009
Yeah, Amaury if you ever leave, I will really get ticked, so DON'T. Unless you find someone that the whole Praxis company agrees on that is funnier than you and JP combined. But that won't happen, so please, DON'T LEAVE!
BTW JP bonne chance. Have fun in Seattle!

I just started my 7 day trial and i was really digging Erica and Amaury, then JP and Amaury. I'm a complete newbie btw. I've searched a lot of sites and podcasts for good French language lessons and FrenchPod is by far the best i've found. You guys are personable, funny, and great teachers with nice clean voices. I hope it continues with the new guy/girl.
*silently weeping* Good luck JP!!

Happy vibes and great success to you, JP, in the next chapter of your life. Thanks for all the great contributions you've made to FrenchPod and I'll miss listening to you two!
Oh, Amaury, mon pauvre ami! Everyone keeps abandoning you like an orphelin - what a trooper you are! I second strelnikov1960 - as long as you're still there, FrenchPod goes on..
Three cheers for Amaury!!

Three cheers for Amaury. Erica, it's been awhile since you posted. Say something once in a while! Haha, but the both of you were awesome hosts. I'm sure Erica will go back to China and give Amaury a punch if he even gets the idea of leaving.
Keep going Amaury! I hope that you will have a good co-host!

Nice to see that Erica is alive and well. We miss you too, kid. You and Amaury had a vibe that was very cool. Wait - how do I say that in French?
That probably sounds stupid in French, but that's why we are students.

Best of luck to JP and thank you so much for all you've done for Frenchpod. I was initially a bit wary of Erica leaving, but you brought your own style and expertise to the lessons that really enriched my learning experience. Your future students are lucky indeed.
I wish Praxis could re-hire Erica...

Ah, dommage. JP, I will miss hearing you and Amaury yucking it up. I've lightened up a lot since I started studying with French Pod.
I am also inspired to hear an American with such mastery of spoken French--the accent, the cadence, the pronounciation.
Thanks a lot. Bonne chance et bon voyage.

JP,
Will you sing the famous song of Serge Gainsbourg "Je suis venu te dire que je m'en vais".
tu suffoques, tu blémis à présent qu'a sonné l'heure
des adieux à jamais
oui je suis au regret
d'te dir'que je m'en vais
oui je t'aimais, oui, mais- je suis venu te dir'que je m'en vais
tes sanglots longs n'y pourront rien changer
tu sanglotes, tu gémis à présent qu'a sonné l'heure
tu suffoques, tu blémis à présent qu'a sonné l'heure
des adieux à jamais
oui je suis au regret
d'te dir'que je m'en vais
oui je t'aimais, oui, mais- je suis venu te dir'que je m'en vais
tes sanglots longs n'y pourront rien changer

T'as eu c'que t'as voulu, même si t'as pas voulu c'que t'as eu

Oh no. I was just listening to the intermediate lesson on tanning and wanted to get a look at JP, and now he's leaving. It's funny because when I first started just a couple of weeks ago, I thought JP and Erika and Amaury were created personalities, but then it became clearer and clearer that you guys are real people. I've taken French in Norway, and the US both at high school and the college, and even self study, and FrenchPod is the first program I've ever wanted to return to and studied diligently on my own. I hope the format survives; you guys have really captured something. Good luck to all.

Et oui graemestone, nous sommes bien réels ; )
The format will survive. Erica and JP were really great cohosts and their contribution to FrenchPod was huge. New people are going to join the FrenchPod team in order to develop the website.
May I ask these questions :
Quand pars-tu en vacances en France et où vas-tu?
Merci beaucoup pour ce commentaire.

Thanks Amaury, you have been the true anchor - you also taught JP a bit - it took it a wee while for him to loosen up and get into the flow.
I am pleased to hear that Praxis will continue. It still has star qualities, but the creativity needs to continue.
Of course at the consumer end we have freedom to mix and match; the combination I find helpful is Praxis frenchpod.com for the audio and Laura Lawless on About.com for written and grammatical. If Praxis and About.com could team up it would be something.
I have some of the classic lessons on CDs which I play endlessly in the car. I am always amazed how much you squeeze out of a short dialogue and new stuff I pick up when I go back to an old one (eg "Somethings burning - Tu sens ça?"
Every language school has to constantly reinvent itself, its the nature of the business. Praxis set a new benchmark early on and I do wish it well keeping up the innovation.

A bientot JP - I hope you have a great time!!! please excuse my lack of accents and lack of French.
I hope also that Frenchpod will start having more than one lesson a week again. I don't really have time to use the online resources very much, and can't afford an iphone at the moment, so I mostly just rely on downloading the podcasts for learning French, and reading a French grammar book on the train every day. Perhaps you could copy some of the Chinese pod lessons and do them in French if that would save time over thinking up new ones. For me it would be just as useful. Anyway I still think French pod is great :) and I haven't downloaded all the audio reviews yet so planning to almost definitely sign up again to the Praxis pass if I can afford it. www.conjuguemos.com looks quite good for practicing verbs, though haven't had time recently to use the internet for study.
