Amaury, vous parlez l'espagnol couramment aussi?!!. Dónde aprendiste a hablarlo? Cuánto tiempo te tomó aprenderlo? ça c'est ma langue maternelle. :)
Erica, Arabe votre prochaine langue à apprendre?! Bonne Chance on learning it haha! :)
I wonder how many and which languages the Frenchpod listeners can speak fluently....

Salut eruworld,
Hi eruworld,
Yes I speak Spanish fluently too (I still need to listen to SpanishPod though!). It is a language I like a lot. I learnt it at university and during travels in Spain (I never got the chance to go to Latin America). To be able to speak Spanish, it took me two years of classes, but then, when I spent five months in Madrid and Pamplona, I learnt as much as during the two years classes.
I hope to go on holiday soon in a country where people speak Spanish so I can practice.

Bonjour, eruworld! I've always been fascinated with la culture et la langue arabe. It would be so fun to learn how to pronounce those interesting sounds. Thanks for the bonne chance :)
And that was a great question to find out from the FrenchPod listeners...Alors, quelles langues parlez-vous couramment?
If French is your first foreign language, it would also be interesting to know:
Quelle est votre langue maternelle (what is your native language)?

I speak English, and I would say Upper Intermediate Indonesian. I live in NYC, USA and my parents are Indonesian. Learning French will make it my third language if i can master it. I can speak Malay if I want to, because it isn't that hard to learn if you know one of the languages. But it is harder to learn Malay- Indonesian rather than British English- American English.

My first language is english. I speak a little french and a little spanish. I use my spanish mostly at my work. I want to speak chinese, german and russian also. I hope to travel in the future, but for now I live vicarously through others.

I wonder how many and which languages the Frenchpod listeners can speak fluently....
Seulement anglais, malheureusement (?).
Using this page as a guideline,
http://www.nvtc.gov/lotw/months/november/learningExpectations.html, I'm keeping track of my hours of language learning. I started in August, as though I were just beginning each language and so far have logged 178 hours of Mandarin, 17 hours of Spanish (though I have three years of high school Spanish and one year of college Spanish), and 6 hours of French.
I think I have a way to go before I'm fluent in any of them. 8-D

Hi there!
I'm Amon from Houston, Texas. I just subscribed for Frenchpod and I kinda like it, but I studied French back in Africa in a French school for a couple of summer so many years ago, but still my problem is with Vocabulary and I think I'm in need of more intense and more advanced lessons. What should I do in your opinion? You have no idea how much I love French and the people too . Take care.
amaurylibeer says
January 4, 2009
Bonjour Amon et bienvenue à FrenchPod,
Since you can take advantage of the seven days free trial, we suggest you listen to some of the higher level lessons -elementary, intermediate, upper intermediate, advanced or advanced media- and see which level is more appropriate to you. You will be free then to subscribe to a 1 month or 6 months basic subscription (for instance) that will give you access to all the FrenchPod lessons. You can get more information on the different subscriptions in the 'Help Subscription Information' section. We are happy to hear you love French and we want you to progress.
If you have any query, don't hesitate to contact us.
A bientôt

I have never learned a language before this, and I'm finding it hard to think about being fluent in multiple languages! What language do you think in???
amaurylibeer says
June 28, 2009
Salut christinei,
If you've never learned a language before, it's better to focus on one language than thinking about being fluent in multiple languages. When you start learning a new language, you shouldn't think about being fluent straightaway, I think. You'll find out there's already so much pleasure being able to speak the basics.
Personally, I think in French and English, depending on the language I'm using so I would say it's 50/50.
Good luck with your French studies. If you have any query, don't hesitate to contact us.

December 8, 2009
'effort' is a French word as well (cool!) so your sentence is correct, although it's more frequent to hear in French "Merci beaucoup pour tous vos efforts".

December 10, 2009

Can we say" Je suis célibataire" instead of this long sentence.Je ne suis pas marié.

amaurylibeer says
December 21, 2009
Sorry sami, I was off work for a couple of days.
Your answer is perfect, "What do you do for living?" and "What's your job?" are in French:
'Quel est votre métier?' (formal) or 'Quel est ton métier?'
You could say as well:
"Tu fais quoi dans la vie?" (informal)
Moi, je suis enseignant sami. Toi aussi je crois.
And soon you're going to be able to take over my job as a French teacher : ) Well done and sorry about the late reply.

December 21, 2009

December 26, 2009
Salut sami,
This is how to say 'I miss you very much': "Tu me manques beaucoup" or "Vous me manquez beaucoup" (if formal or if there's more than one person that you miss).
To say 'We missed you very much' :
"Tu nous a beaucoup manqué" or "Vous nous avez beaucoup manqué"
